MOM'S BLACKBERRY ROLL 
2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. sugar
5 tbsp. shortening
2/3 c. milk
3 c. blackberries
3/4 c. sugar
2 tbsp. butter

Mix and sift dry ingredients. Work in shortening to consistency of coarse meal. Add milk and mix to soft dough. Beat for 30 seconds. Turn onto floured board, roll into oblong sheet 1/3 inch thick.

Mix blackberries and sugar. Spread on dough, dot with butter and roll up like a jelly roll. Moisten edges to seal. Place in shallow pan. Bake 10 minutes at 450 degrees. Continue baking for 20 more minutes at 350 degrees. Serve with cream or lemon sauce. 6 servings.
