1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
Dash of salt
3 tsp. baking powder
1 egg
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. milk
2 to 2 1/2 c. flour

Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg. Mix well. Sift together dry ingredients. Add to sugar mixture along with milk. Flour hands and pat cookies onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. Great with coffee!
