AMANDA'S ONION SOUP 
1/4 cup Unsalted Butter
4 Large White Onions (halved and thinly sliced)
1 tsp. Sugar
1 tbsp. Flour
3 10.5 oz. Cans Beef Broth
1 can Water
1/4 cup Dry Red Wine
1/3 cup Onion Flavored Croutons
Swiss Cheese

Heat Broiler. Melt 1/4 cup unsalted butter in 5 quart saucepan over medium-high heat. Add 4 large white onions, halved and thinly sliced; stir to coat with butter. Cover and cook 8 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add 1 tsp. sugar, cook uncovered stirring onions until slightly golden, about 6 minutes. Add 1 Tbsp. flour, cook 1 minute longer. Stir in 3 cans condensed Beef Broth, 1 can of water and 1/4 cup red wine, cover and simmer for 5 minutes.

Place four 2 cup overproof bowls on baking sheet. Put 1/3 cup garlic flavored croutons in each. Evenly divide soup among bowls (approximately 1 3/4 cups per bowl) Top each bowl with a slice of Swiss Cheese, broil 3 minutes or until cheese is melted.
