IRISH POUND CAKE
1/2 lb. butter, creamed
2 c. flour, sifted
1 2/3 c. sugar
5 eggs, unbeaten
1/2 tsp. mace

Grease a shallow baking dish. Heat oven and have everything ready. Mixing has to be done by hand. Do not desecrate with an electric mixer.

Add sugar and mace to the butter and mix until very light and soft. Add one egg at a time an beat until well blended. Mix in flour and turn at once into baking dish. Bake for 25 minutes to 30 minutes in medium oven. When cold, cut in small squares.

Can be baked in an individual bread pan. This made the pound cake high and narrow when sliced. No frosting; just fine-grained cake slice. Enjoy!
