GINGER SNAPS 
3/4 c. shortening
1 egg
3 tsp. molasses
3 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. water
2 tsp. powdered ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 1/2 c. flour

In large bowl of electric mixer, cream shortening and sugar; add egg, water and molasses and beat well. Add baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves and flour; beat until well mixed.

Drop from teaspoon on greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake at 350 degrees for 6-8 minutes. Let stand 1 minute before removing from cookie sheet to waxed paper for cooling.

Store in airtight container.
