ANGEL DUMPLINGS 
SAUCE:

1 c. sugar
2 1/2 c. water
3 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1/8 tsp. salt

Brown sugar in iron skillet over fire for 15 minutes. Add water, butter, vanilla, and salt.

DUMPLING BATTER:

1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. butter, melted
1/2 c. milk
1 1/4 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder

Mix all ingredients until well blended. Drop by tablespoonful into sauce in skillet. Bake in 400 degree oven until dumplings are done.
