CARAMELSCOTCH FROSTING | |
1 c. brown sugar firmly packed 3 tbsp. shortening 2 tbsp. butter 1/4 tsp. salt 1/3 c. milk 1 1/2 c. sifted confectioners' sugar Put brown sugar, shortening, butter and salt in a saucepan and cook over low heat until mixture begins to bubble, stirring constantly. Add milk and mix well. Continue cooking over medium heat until mixture boils, stirring constantly. Boil vigorously for 1 minute. Remove from heat. Cool until lukewarm. Add sugar all at once and beat until creamy and thick enough to spread. Delicious with a spice cake mix. |
