FRESH APPLE CAKE 
1 1/2 c. salad oil
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
3 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
3 c. chopped tart apples
1 c. chopped walnuts
2 tsp. vanilla

Beat oil and sugar. Add eggs one at a time. Sift together flour, salt and soda; add gradually to egg mixture, blending well. Stir in apples, walnuts and vanilla. Pour in greased and floured 10 inch tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 60 to 70 minutes. Frost when cool with brown sugar frosting.

BROWN SUGAR FROSTING:

1/2 c. butter (1 stick)
1 c. brown sugar (packed)
1/4 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Melt butter with brown sugar. Add milk and bring to rolling boil. Boil 2 or 3 minutes. Cool and add vanilla (cook frosting while cake is baking and cool without stirring until cake is cooled). If frosting is not thick enough consistency, beat a few strokes. Frost top and side of cake.
