STEWED TOMATOES 
1 sm. onion, finely chopped
3 tbsp. butter
1 (28 oz.) can whole tomatoes
1 1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/4 c. brown sugar
1 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. bread crumbs

Saute onion in butter in a large cast iron skillet. Add tomatoes, salt, pepper and brown sugar. Boil hard and stir often, breaking up tomatoes, until mixture thickens to desired consistency. Place in a buttered baking dish.

Melt butter in small frying pan; toss bread crumbs in butter. Sprinkle over tomatoes. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Serves 4-6.
