PASTY 
5 c. flour
1 c. shortening
2 1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. water (or enough to hold together)

FILLING:

Meat of choice
1 c. diced potato
1/4 c. diced onion
Salt and pepper

Divide the dough and roll out on floured board. Cut the size of a large plate. Place filling on half the dough; wet the edge and fold top half over the filling. Press and fold edges together.

Remove to cookie sheet. Slit the top of pasty and bake at 350 degrees for approximately 1 hour. Makes 5-6 pasties.
