HAMBURG SOUP 
1 to 1 1/2 lb. hamburg
3 c. water
3 lg. carrots
2 med. onions
1 lg. can whole tomatoes
1 tsp. gravy master or brown sauce
1 can beef broth
1 beef bouillon cube
1/4 c. barley
1 bay leaf
Salt and pepper to taste
Basil to taste

Brown beef; do not drain. Add brown sauce. Add all remaining ingredients in order given except barley. Cook on medium heat until vegetables are tender. Add barley, remove bay leaf. Add water if needed.
