CRACKED WHEAT BREAD 
3 c. warm water
3 c. cracked wheat
1/2 c. brown sugar (scant)
2 tbsp. honey
5 c. white flour
3 tbsp. shortening (rounded)
3 tsp. salt
1/2 c. warm water
2 cakes yeast dissolved in above water (I use rapid rise yeast)

Mix 3 cups water with cracked wheat. Add brown sugar, salt and yeast. Mix well. Add shortening. Mix in enough white flour to handle easy (about 5 cups). Grease and let rise. Knead again; let rise, put in bread tins. Bake 350 1 hour. Makes 3 loaves.
