GENEVA'S RED VELVET CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
2 tbsp. cocoa
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 level tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
2 oz. red food coloring (2 - 1 oz. bottles)
2 1/2 c. flour
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vinegar

FROSTING:

1 c. butter
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sugar
3 tbsp. flour

Cream butter and sugar, cook, milk and flour until thick, and cool, add butter and sugar. Bake in preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until done.
