GRANNY GREEK'S SWISS STEAK | |
2 lb. tenderized round steak, 3/4" thick Salt & pepper Flour for coating Oil for browning 2 (28 oz.) cans whole tomatoes, chopped 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste 1 med. onion, chopped 1 c. water 1 tsp. sugar (opt.) In Dutch oven or deep pan with cover, add well chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, chopped onions and water. Slowly cook on low heat while preparing steak pieces. Wipe meat and cut into serving size pieces, about 2" x 3 1/2". Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Firmly press flour on both sides of each piece. Brown each piece in hot oil and drain. Add drained pieces to tomato and onion mixture, turn to simmer and cook 40 to 60 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serves 6. |
