ITALIAN POT ROAST 
1 c. sliced onions
1/2 c. water or vegetable liquid
2 tbsp. sugar
3 tbsp. ketchup
Salt & pepper to taste
1 clove garlic
1 bay leaf
2 tbsp. vinegar
3 lb. pot roast of beef

Brown meat on all sides in skillet. Add other ingredients and simmer until done. Potatoes and carrots may be added the last 30 minutes of cooking time.
