So happy to find this recipe again, it disappeared during our last move!!! First made this in the 70's and everyone loves it! Don't forget to place the 1 inch layer from the top of the cake back on the filled cake. I put some of the wetter jello on the top of the edges to "glue" - help it stick after filling. Frost with cool whip or whipped cream and garnish with fresh strawberries. Just marvelous!

My mom used to make this cake when I was a child and I loved it...after she passed away I couldn't find a recipe for it, now I have it and I'm thrilled. I'm making it tomorrow!!!

Lost this recipe, used to make it 30 years ago, it amazes people when they see the ring/filling and try to figure out, how did you do that? You can also use a ready made angel food cake and it works just as well. Thanks for posting recipe. Making it for a family reunion, and I know it is going to make a BIG HIT.

My mother-in-law made this cake, and I make it now because it's still the only one my husband wants for his birthday years after his mother passed away. For frosting, we whip heavy whipping cream and sugar together with a little red food coloring to make it pink.
