1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. chopped apples

Cream together shortening, sugar, and eggs. Mix dry ingredients and vanilla. Add to creamed mixture. Blend well. Add apples. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes in a 9 x 12 inch pan (single recipe).

FROSTING:

4 oz. cream cheese
4 oz. sour cream
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. chopped walnuts

Cream sugar, cream cheese, and sour cream together until sugar can't be tasted. Add walnuts. Spread on cake.
