PIDOHY (A POLISH DUMPLING) | |
1 c. flour 1 egg 4 tbsp. water Mix flour and egg with enough water to form a soft dough. Knead well. roll out on floured board until thin. Cut in squares about 2 x 2 inches. Place 1 tablespoon filling on each. Fold in half and pinch dough together. Drop carefully in boiling water. Cook until they rise to surface and then boil 5 minutes. Drain. Pour melted butter over and serve. FILLINGS: 1 lg. cooked and mashed potato 1 tbsp. butter Grated cheese (optional) CHEESE FILLING: 1/2 c. dry cottage cheese 1 egg yolk 1 tbsp. butter Prune filling: 1/2 c. cooked pitted prunes Or make up your own fillings. |
