BOSTON BROWN BREAD 
1 pkg. seeded raisins

Pour 3 cups boiling water over the raisins. Cool.

1 tbsp. shortening, creamed
1 tsp. molasses

Add:

1 beaten egg

to creamed mixture. Sift together:

2 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt

Add dry ingredients to mixture. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla.

Bake in well greased coffee cans in a pan of water for 1 hour at 350 degrees.
