NEVER FAIL PIE CRUST | |
4 c. all-purpose flour, sifted 2 c. all vegetable shortening 2 tbsp. white sugar 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 c. water 1 tbsp. vinegar 1 egg Combine sifted flour, shortening, sugar and salt with pastry blender (or 2 butter knives) until pea size balls form. Blend together in separate bowl: 1 beaten egg, 1 tbsp. vinegar and 1/2 cup water. Pour this mixture into flour mixture and blend. Knead slightly, roll out on floured surface. Makes 4-5 shells depending upon size. Unused portion may be frozen. |
