PLAIN POUND CAKE 
2 sticks butter
1/2 c. shortening
3 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. lemon flavoring
3 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
Pinch of salt
1 c. milk
6 eggs

Cream butter and shortening. Add sugar, gradually. Stir in flavorings. Add eggs, one at a time. Sift dry ingredients together (flour, baking powder and salt). Add dry ingredients alternately with 1 cup milk. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 30 minutes.

NOTE: Let creamed mixture beat for about 3 minutes after all eggs are added.
