APPLE DUMPLINGS
Pastry dough for 6 servings
6 med. tart apples, cored
1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3 tbsp. butter
1 c. sugar
2 c. water
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
3 tbsp. butter

Roll out dough to slightly less than 1/8 inch thick and cut into 7 inch squares. Combine 1/2 cup sugar and 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and set aside. Boil sugar, water, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon and 3 tablespoons butter for 3 minutes to make syrup.

Place one apple on each pastry square and fill cavity with cinnamon-sugar mixture. Dot with butter. Bring opposite points of dough up over apple, moisten edges and seal. Place apart in a 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking dish. Pour hot syrup over and around dumplings. Bake in preheated 425 degree oven for 40-45 minutes until crust browns and apples are fork tender. Serve with the syrup and whipped cream. Serves 6.
