BLACK WALNUT POUND CAKE 
3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
6 eggs
3/4 tsp. baking powder
3 1/2 c. sugar
3/4 tsp. vanilla extract
3/4 c. black walnuts
1 1/4 c. milk
Pinch of soda

Beat butter and shortening with an electric mixer, about 2 minutes. Add sugar. Beat about 5 minutes. Beat eggs, 1 at a time until yellow disappears. Mix flour and baking powder. Add to mixture with milk. Stir in vanilla and walnuts. Pour in a greased and floured 10 inch tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Cool in pan. Cake may be frozen up to 5 months. 10 to 12 servings.
