NORSKE FRUIT SOUP 
2 c. mixed dried fruit
3 c. water (enough to cover)
1/2 c. grape juice (if desired)
1/2 lemon, sliced
2 tbsp. sago or tapioca
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 to 2/3 c. sugar
1 stick cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves

Cook fruit in water until tender. Add juice, lemon, cloves, sago (that has soaked overnight), salt and cinnamon. Cook until sago or tapioca is clear or translucent. Sweeten to taste. May be served hot or cold. Serves 4 to 6. It used by Norse on christmas Eve and as a gift to the sick.
