COCONUT POUND CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1 c. Crisco
4 eggs
3 tsp. coconut flavoring
3 c. plain or cake flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. buttermilk

Cream sugar and Crisco. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add flavoring. Sift together dry ingredients. Add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Bake at 325 degrees in a tube pan for 1 hour and 20 minutes.

SAUCE FOR CAKE:

2 c. sugar
1 c. water
2 tbsp. white Karo syrup
1 tsp. coconut flavoring
3 tbsp. butter

Cook 5 minutes; spoon over hot cake. Let stand in pan overnight.
