1/4 c. lukewarm water 1 c. milk, scalded and cooled to lukewarm 1 tsp. salt 2 eggs, beaten 1/2 c. sugar 4 1/2 to 5 c. flour Candied fruit mix Pecans Candied Cherries Powdered Sugar Icing
Soften yeast in lukewarm water. In a large bowl combine milk, salt, eggs, sugar, shortening, softened yeast and 3 cups of the flour. Add remaining flour to make soft dough. Knead in flour dredged fruit mix (about 1 cup). Cover and allow to rise until double. Punch down. Roll out 1/2 inch thick and divide into 3 strands. Braid. Turn braid into circle and place on greased baking sheet. Cover and allow to rise until double. Bake in 375 degree oven 20-25 minutes or until golden. Ice with frosting and decorate with cherries and pecans.
