CANADIAN GEM COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. raisins
1 1/4 c. water
1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
Cinnamon & sugar mixture

Simmer raisins in water until water is absorbed, then cool completely. Cream together shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Add flour, soda and salt. Add cooled raisins to cookie dough and dip by teaspoons into cinnamon and sugar mixture. Bake at 350 degrees until done.
