NORTHERNERS' CHILI 
1 lb. ground beef
1 c. chopped onion
1 clove garlic, minced

Brown beef, onion and garlic in oven. Use a flat pan (with a drip insert). Spread meat over a large surface. All fat will drip into pan.

1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes, cut up
1 (15 1/2 oz.) can red kidney beans, drained
1/2 c. orange juice
1/2 c. beer
1/2 c. 6 oz. can tomato paste
1 can diced green chili peppers, drained (adjust amount to taste)
1/2 tsp. ground cumin
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
Sour cream
Shredded Cheddar cheese
Chopped tomato
Lettuce
Corn chips

Stir in the meat, mix the undrained tomatoes, kidney beans, orange juice, beer, tomato paste, chili peppers, cumin, cloves. Simmer for 30 minutes.

TO SERVE:

Chunky pieces of crisp lettuce on bottom. Then chili on top of lettuce. Chopped tomatoes on top of chili. Shredded cheese next. Top with corn chips. Serve bowl of sour cream for each individual to suite his taste. Serves 4-6.
