ORANGE-DATE CAKE 
2 sticks butter
1 3/4 c. sugar
4 eggs
2 c. flour
1 c. chopped pecans
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. boiling water
1 tbsp. orange juice
1 tbsp. orange rind
1 pkg. prunes or dates

Pour water and soda over dates (or prunes) and let cool. Cream butter and sugar. Add other ingredients alternately. Add eggs (beaten) last. Mix well. Pour into tube or Bundt pan that has been floured and greased. Bake one hour at 350 degrees (or until done).

FROSTING:

Mix 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup orange juice and grated rind of one orange. Pour over cake, while cake is still hot and allow to absorb well.
