1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1 c. chopped dates
Rind of 1 orange
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. sour milk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. lukewarm water

Mix butter, sugar and egg. Dissolve soda in water. Combine flour, powder and add alternately with milk. Add soda and water, then rind. Bake at 350 degrees in 8 x 8 inch pan. Make glaze of juice of one orange, 1/2 cup white sugar. Spread over warm cake.
