SAUSAGE-APPLE STUFFING | |
1 (14-16 oz.) ready to stuff turkey 1 lb. bulk pork sausage 1 lg. cooking apple, peeled and chopped 1 lg. onion, chopped 1 c. celery, chopped 8 c. day old bread cubes, not dried 3 eggs, beaten 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1 1/2 tsp. poultry seasoning 1/4 tsp. pepper 1/2 stick butter, melted Over medium heat brown sausage; breaking apart with fork into small pieces. Remove from pan and put aside. Pour all but 1/4 cup fat from pan. Add to pan apple, onion and celery and cook over medium heat until celery is tender, about 10 minutes; stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. In large bowl, put bread cubes and add apple mixture. Beat eggs; add seasonings to egg mixture and mix thoroughly. Add sausage to bread cube mixture, then add eggs with seasonings. Mix well. Slowly add melted butter and toss thoroughly. Stuff turkey as usual. |
