MAPLE SYRUP CAKE 
1/2 c. sugar
3/4 c. maple syrup
2 1/4 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/3 c. shortening
1/2 c. milk
3 egg whites

Cream sugar and shortening together. Add syrup and stir. Add milk and flour alternately. Fold in beaten egg whites.

Bake in oblong pan.

Bake at 350°F for 40 minutes or until done.
