MAPLE SYRUP CAKE 
2 1/4 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. maple syrup
1/2 c. milk
2 eggs
1/2 c. pecans or butternuts

Sift together dry ingredients in bowl. Add shortening, mix. Combine sugar and milk. Add half to other mixture, beat 2 minutes. Add remaining liquid and 2 eggs, beat 2 minutes. Blend in nuts. Bake in 2 round pans for 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Frost with Maple Frosting.
