BAKED ASPARAGUS 
1 can asparagus, drained
1 can green peas, drained
1 can soup (mushroom, celery or potato)
1 can water chestnuts (drained & sliced)
4 slices bread, cut in strips & remove crusts
1 stick butter
American cheese, grated

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter. Place bread in butter and let it absorb as much as possible. Arrange asparagus in casserole dish. Mix soup, chestnuts and peas. Pour over asparagus. Cover generously with cheese. Put bread strips on top. Bake 35 minutes until bread is light brown. Serves 6-8.
