SHORTBREAD COOKIES 
1/2 lb. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg yolk
2 c. flour
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolk and flour gradually. Add nuts and vanilla.

Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet. Press down top of each cookie with fork which has been dipped in the unbeaten egg white. Bake at 350 degrees 10-12 minutes.
