CARAWAY CHEESE BREAD | |
2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 3/4 tsp. salt 2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 lb. cheddar cheese, grated 1 tbsp. caraway seeds 1 c. evaporated milk or light cream 1 tbsp. vinegar 1 egg, slightly beaten 1 tbsp. melted butter Sift dry ingredients together. Add caraway seeds and cheese; mix well. Combine milk and vinegar with beaten egg, then add to flour mixture. Add melted fat. Stir only until dry ingredients are moistened. Batter will be stiff and fairly lumpy. Pour into greased 9"x5"x3" loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for about 50 minutes. Makes 1 small loaf. |
