BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
4 qt. thinly sliced med. cucumbers
6 med. onions, sliced
2 green peppers, chopped
3 cloves garlic
1/3 c. coarse salt
Crushed ice
5 c. sugar
2 tbsp. mustard seed
3 c. cider vinegar
1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric

Combine first 5 ingredients in a large saucepan. Cover with ice; mix well. Let stand for 3 hours. Drain well. Combine the remaining ingredients. Pour over the cucumbers. Bring to a boil. Spoon into 8 hot sterilized pint jars; seal.
