OLD FASHION OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 c. butter
3/4 c. soft shortening
4 c. oatmeal
2 c. raisins
Water
4 eggs
2 c. sugar
2/3 c. water from raisins (or milk)
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
4 c. sifted flour
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Melt butter and shortening together. Stir in oatmeal and toast over moderate heat, stirring, until lightly browned. Set aside.

Cover raisins with water and bring to a boil. Set aside to cool. Drain, reserve the water.

Combine eggs, sugar, liquid of choice and mix well. Combine dry ingredients and stir into egg mixture. Add raisins and nuts. Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees 10-12 minutes.
