This is easy to make, tasted like "cabbage rolls" mother use to make but a whole lot less work. All who ate I Said "GOOD"! Will be making it again, again & again.

This is absolutely delicious!!! I did make extra sauce, just because that's the way my family likes it and I added a can of sauerkraut to the sauce. (My mom always did to her traditional halupki.) My husband told me I can make this every week and to make sure I write down the recipe, because it's a keeper!

I made this and you'd swear you were eating the old fashioned laborious version of the Slovakian dish. I'll never do it the other way again. It was absolutely luscious! My only variation was to use World Famous Schmidt's Mild Loose Sausage meat. They ship it all over the US from their tiny shop in Steelton PA. Wonderful good!

Just made this for dinner tonight. Everyone loved it. I used a package of Dole Angelhair coleslaw so you don't even have to monkey with shredding a head of cabbage. I used a cup of instant brown rice, everything else pretty much the same as this recipe. I covered it with foil, shiny side down and baked it 1 1/2 hours.

Had this delicious dish at the Red Lion Restaurant in Pine Grove (PA), just north (Exit 100, off Interstate #81) of Harrisburg. It's been in business for over 50 years, has great food (the Halupkie Casserole was perfect!), and very casual and comfortable in its out-country setting.

OH MY GOSH!! This is simple - yet so good... I just completed this - but did it all stove top... I cut the recipe in 1/2... I shredded the cabbage (as for cole slaw) so it would cook faster, sprinkled Lemon Pepper over while cooking. I cooked the entire thing (stove top) - in about 40 minutes... Also found a recipe for "Arkansas Hush Puppies", I think this will compliment it... the little bit of sugar & vinegar, just top this off.
