HOT BROWNS 
6 lg. slices turkey or chicken
6 thin slices ham
6 slices bread, toasted
6 slices bacon, crisply cooked
1 c. grated American cheese
2 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. milk

Melt butter in a heavy saucepan. Blend in flour and salt to make a smooth mixture. Add milk slowly and stir rapidly to prevent lumping. Bring mixture to boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in cheese and continue stirring until smooth.

Turn on oven at 375 degrees. Place toasted bread in a large baking pan, side by side. Arrange turkey and ham slices on bread. Spoon cheese sauce over all. Place strip of bacon (broken in half) on each sandwich. Add tomato slice for garnish. Bake for 7 to 10 minutes or until slightly browned and bubbly.

Serves 6.
