PORCUPINES IN SAUERKRAUT 
2 lbs. sauerkraut
1 lg. onion
1 lb. ground beef
1/4 c. raw long grain rice (not Minute Rice)
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1 or 2 slices white bread (crust removed), torn into very sm. pieces
1 beaten egg
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce (optional)

Chop the onion and add to the sauerkraut. To the ground beef add the rest of the ingredients and mix well, and make about twelve meatballs.

Layer half the sauerkraut and onion mixture on the bottom of a medium sized saucepan; add the meatballs and cover them with the remainder of the sauerkraut mixture. Cook about 40 minutes, or until meatballs and rice are completely cooked. This is one of my Mother's recipes.
