GOLDEN CHEESE WHEEL | |
1 pkg. yeast 2/3 c. warm water 2 c. all-purpose flour 2 tbsp. oil 1/2 tsp. sugar 1/2 tsp. salt May use frozen bread dough, thawed. FILLING: 1 beaten egg 3 c. (12 oz.) shredded Muenster cheese 1/4 c. parsley, chopped 1/2 tsp. garlic powder 1/8 tsp. black pepper Salt TOPPING: 1 beaten egg 1 tbsp. water 1 1/2 tsp. sesame seeds 1 tsp. sugar, optional In a bowl soften yeast in warm water. Beat in 1 cup of the flour, oil and 1/2 teaspoon sugar and salt. Stir in as much flour as you can with a spoon. On lightly floured surface, knead in enough flour to make a moderately stiff dough. Knead until dough is smooth, 5 to 8 minutes. Place in lightly greased bowl, turn once. Cover, let rise in warm place until double, 1 hour. Punch down, divide into 2 portions. (Start here, if using frozen thawed bread dough.) Cover, let rest 10 minutes. On lightly floured surface, roll into a 13 inch circle. Place circle on a greased 12 inch pizza pan. Filling: Combine the 1 beaten egg, the cheese, the parsley, the garlic powder, the salt and the pepper. Spread over dough. Roll other half of dough to 13 inch circle. Place on top of filling. Press top and bottom edges together to seal. Bake at 400 degrees about 20 minutes. Remove. Brush top with remaining egg and water mixture. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sugar if desired. Bake 10 minutes longer. Cut into narrow wedges. Serve hot. |
