SMOKED SAUSAGE SOUP 
1 lb. smoked pork sausage
2 c. shredded cabbage
4 potatoes, peeled & sliced
1 sm. turnip, peeled & diced
2 carrots, diced
Salt to taste
1 onion, diced
Milk or cream

Prepare all ingredients while sausage is boiling gently in 2 quarts of water. Add vegetables with salt to pot and cook about 30 minutes, or until vegetables are tender and soup is very thick. Remove sausage and cut into 1/4 inch slices. Return them to the soup, thin it with some milk or cream if you like. Cover and simmer slightly until ready to serve.
