CHERRY NUT BREAD 
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. cherry juice
1/2 c. milk
16 maraschino cherries, chopped
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1/2 tsp. vanilla

300 degree oven.

Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs. Sift flour, salt and baking powder. Add to above mixture, alternating with milk and cherry juice. Add cherries and nuts. Add vanilla. Mix well. Bake 40-50 minutes 3 small loaves, 3x6x2, or bake in regular loaf pan.

Too much baking powder, cut it back. Maybe it should be 2 tsps. as opposed to 2 tbsp. The bread itself is delicious.
