1 egg
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. berries
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Mix above ingredients then add enough flour to make a stiff batter. Pour into 2 greased and floured layer pans. Bake at 350 degrees. Ice with favorite icing.
