WHEEL COOKIES 
3/4 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking soda
3 tbsp. water
2 oz. (1 square) chocolate, melted

Cream butter, gradually add sugar, cream thoroughly. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Sift together flour, soda and salt; add to creamed mixture. Blend in water. Divide dough in half. Add chocolate to 1 portion. Shape each into 2 (2 inch) rolls. Wrap in waxed paper, chill.

Cut each roll lengthwise into fourths. Brush cut sides with hot milk. For each roll, press together 4 strips of alternating colors to form a compact roll 2 inches in diameter. Refrigerate until firm. Cut into thin slices. Place on greased baking sheets. Bake at 325 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
