MASTER BISKET MIX | |
4 1/2 c. sifted flour 2 tbsp. baking powder 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar 2 tbsp. sugar (I don't use the sugar) 1 c. powdered milk 1 c. shortening Sift dry ingredients 3 times. Cut in shortening into dry ingredients until mixture looks like cornmeal. Store in tightly covered metal container, keep cool. Recipe may be doubled if desired. When ready to bake, use as much mix as needed and mix with water to consistency desired roll out on floured board and cut with biscuit cutter and put into greased pan and bake at 450 degrees for 12 minutes. I put sugar in if using mix for shortcakes. |
