To use starter, begin 10 days prior to baking. STARTER: 1 pkg. yeast 2 1/2 c. warm water 1 tbsp. sugar 2 c. flour Dissolve yeast. Stir in remaining ingredients. Beat until smooth. Cover and let stand 5-10 days, stirring 2-3 times daily. Cover and refrigerate until needed. 1 c. flour 1 c. milk 1/2 c. sugar 1 c. starter 2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. baking soda 2 tbsp. baking powder 1 c. brown sugar 2/3 c. oil 2 eggs 1 c. nuts or raisins Mix together. Pour in 9x13-inch pan. Swirl in: 1 tbsp. flour 1 tbsp. cinnamon 1 c. brown sugar 1/2 c. butter Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes. ICING: 1/2 c. butter 1 c. brown sugar 1/4 c. milk Boil 5 minutes, then pour over warm cake. |
