BASIC 10 LOAF BREAD | |
6 c. warm water 9 tbsp. shortening 1 c. sugar 5 lb. flour, reg. 4 packs yeast 4 eggs 6 tbsp. salt Mix good before you put it on board. Dissolve yeast in water. Add eggs, beat; add sugar and shortening. Then add salt and flour. Put on floured board and work in until smooth ball is formed (about 30 minutes). Let it rise to double or more in deep pan. Put back on board and knead about 5 minutes more. Put in greased pans and let it rise again to double. Put in oven at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. Done when brown and has a hollow sound when thumped. Remove from pans and either cover or brush with melted butter. Cool away from drafts. Can freeze before or after baking. Can be used for donuts, pizza or dinner rolls. Donuts can be filled or frosted after baking. |
