OVEN SWISS STEAK 
1 1/2 lb. beef round steak, 3/4 inch thick
1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 (16 oz.) can stewed tomatoes
1/2 c. chopped celery
1/2 c. chopped carrots
1/2 sm. onion, chopped
1/2 c. Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp. basil
1/4 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. thyme

Cut meat into desired portions, mix flour and salt, pound into meat. Brown meat in small pan and heat shortening. Place meat in shallow baking dish. Add remaining ingredients to drippings in pan, cook until blended. Pour over meat, cover and bake at 350 degrees for 2 hours or until tender. Makes 4 servings.
